Website and social media management in retail.

Small business – do they really need to create a public image and advertising strategy? The answer is – yes, if you want to succeed more.

Now that we use Internet resources on a daily basis, we all know what a website and social media platform looks like. Mostly we use them to find some information or communicate with others. But what impact do these information technologies have on small businesses?

For starters to be recognizable every company needs to work on its public image. Start with little details that make it stand out from the crowd – for example, company name, logo, slogan. Then you can think of social media account and website to be more reachable. Customers will appreciate it if the information will be easily accessible and safe to use. It will also look more professional, and build more credibility.

“The four most widely known categories of social media are:

(a) social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Xing, and others;

(b) corporate blogs or microblogs such as Twitter and others;

(c) multimedia content-sharing websites such as YouTube, Instagram, Flickr, SlideShare, and others; and

(d) wiki-based knowledge-sharing tools.

In 2021, 59 % of EU enterprises used at least one of these types of social media, an increase by 22 percentage points compared to 2015. Percentages do vary widely from country to country, ranging from 80 % and more in Malta (84 %), Sweden (80 %) and in the Netherlands (80 %) to less than 40 % in Bulgaria (39 %) and Romania (36 %).”

If you care to build a competitive small business, it is highly important to explore the industry and their business advertising strategies.

While social media marketing is taking over traditional advertising, not all potential customers who use the Internet, use social media platforms. Therefore, company’s website is a good idea, also it brings more credibility to its users, because it requires more effort and strategy than creating a social media account.

According to Forbes, the most common platforms for building a website are:

Weebly: Best Overall

GoDaddy: Best for Service Providers

IONOS: Best for Startups

Squarespace: Best for Creatives

HostGator: Best for Simplicity

Wix: Best for Code-Free Customizations

Shopify: Best for Dropshipping

Zyro: Best for Affordability

WordPress.org: Best for Versatility

Duda: Best for Agencies

Of course it does not end with just building your website or social media business account to promote your product. It requires attention and maintenance.
